The best part is that you don’t have to do much to maintain it. You will just have to keep some of the simple tips in mind to ensure that dirt doesn’t accumulate in it and the filling is fluffy.

Read on to know about the care tips for goose down pillows .

Wash it properly: This is very simple and you need to pay attention to the manufacturer recommendations before washing your pillow. In some of the cases,  washing machine cleaning is recommended while in others you can opt for dry.

Well, if you have decided to wash it at home, then get rid of the protector and pillowcase. You will have to take a closer look for the loose ends, holes or stitching for rips. Just in case there is a hole that goes unnoticed, you will end up losing a lot of the filling. So make sure that it is properly repaired before you go on to the next cleaning procedure or step.

You can think about washing more than one pillow side by side. The number will entirely depend on the competence of the machine. In case of front-loading washing there is the movement of the agitator so the risks associated with damage are minimised.

You can choose a liquid detergent is a great alternative as you can easily get rid of it later on. Still, it is a smart idea to opt for the extra rinse for making the filling clean. It is recommended to simply skip the spin cycle. It won’t cause any damage, but will make the filling clump together. And later on you will find it tough to fluff up the pillow.

Drying procedure: After washing the pillow properly, you need to ensure that it is properly dried. Drying becomes all the more important if you are interested in storing it for a longer time period. Mildew can be formed inside due to any moisture trapped inside.

You can simply wrap a towel around the pillow so that you can get rid of the excess water. You can sue both your hands for pressing it properly and replace the towel with the new one whenever you feel the need. This way you will be able to get rid of all the additional moisture.

You can also put the pillow back in the dryer, if you feel the need. In some of the cases you might feel that it is important to go for the low heat setting. You can also use the dryer balls for breaking down the down clumps.

Air drying is also a great option but make sure that you keep turning the pillow occasionally so that both the sides dry properly.

Additional recommendations: If you notice any kind of yellowing of the fabric, you can simply go for a spot treatment using hydrogen peroxide and white vinegar. After this you need to wash the pillow as described above.
