So What’s Egyptian Cotton and Why is Everyone talking About it?

For centuries, Egyptian Cotton has been renowned for its immeasurable quality and superiority against all other cottons and fabrics. Aficionados of comfort and quality will likely own at least one item made from Egyptian cotton, whether it be towels, robes, pyjamas or, perhaps more commonly, Egyptian cotton sheets Australia But, have you ever asked why Egyptian cotton is so widely revered?

The first, and primary difference between regular and Egyptian cotton is the fact that they come from different plants, making the properties of each very different. Secondly, Egyptian Cotton is grown exclusively in the moist atmosphere of the River Nile. The moist conditions make the atmosphere ideal for growing long cotton fibres, known as “staples”. These staples are significantly longer than regular cotton fibres, meaning there are substantially fewer splices, making the threads a lot stronger. Extra long fibres also allow us to turn them into very fine yarn, which is a lot softer than regular cotton varieties.

As we are able to make yarn a lot finer than we can with regular cotton, we can then stack them more thread counts into each square inch. As is traditionally understood, the higher the thread count, the more durable the fabric. As such, Egyptian cotton sheets Australia tend to last a lot longer than regular cotton sheets.
